Carve the future ---Noor Riyadh 2022

In the future of sculpture, Obaid Alsafi raised the issue of the relationship between the desert and the resulting civilization, trying to trace the relationship between Saudi Arabia's past and present.

Alsafi uses AI to build a collective memory form based on a large amount of existing data (in this case, desert photos). On the crystal structure, Alsafi projects a video that moves between these undulating dune images and those of Riyadh.

Put the device in the desert, and Alsafi urges us not to regard the desert as a blank, but a place to start. Desert is the place where mirages are usually formed, but it is also rich in sand, which is an indispensable material for making electronic chips. New technologies such as data mining form the basis of new intelligence, but they can also become tools for creative expression as shown by Alsafi.
